Interview with Creative Director of Herion

Left; Julia Larese has been Creative Director of Herion since 2001. Seen here with friend Parwien, both sporting Herion at a private party in Shelter Island.
Where did you get your inspiration for this season's collection?
"I come from a multicultural upbringing (Julia has lived in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and grew up in New Zealand) and have always been fascinated with the different cultures and lifestyles. Colors are my true inspiration, colors which I combine and connect to memories and nature. This season's collection has been partially inspired by American vintage of the 60s. Our Vintage Americana halter dress epitomizes this theme."

How do you start your day?

"I am actually a very early riser; Iwake up and bring my children to school and then I swim a mile at the pool all before I go to work. Swimming gets me refreshed and ready for whatever the day has in store for me."

What is the must have Herion item for spring?

"A must have Herion item for spring is definitely the Red Bird Top; a very feminine and flirty piece. The top paired with a great fitting pair of white jeans is so chic."

If you could go anywhere, where would you like to spend your next vacation?

"My next vacation would have to be an adventurous one, spent with my family of course. I would love to learn how to kite surf in Sardinia or Tulum, Mexico."

What is your favorite restaurant in New York City?

"Too easy... Mr Chow's in Tribeca, I love the fried seaweed!"

What fashion item do you wish to not come back?

"Head to toe, one brand, one coordinated outfit. I prefer to mix and match, a way to express your own personal style and mood! Fashion should not be dictated but lived on a personal level."

What items in your closet could you not live without?

"My favorite Herion turtle print dress; I always get the greatest compliments! I also could not live without my Marni light-weight jacket, its very chic and useful; it goes with everything and is perfect for the changing weather."

What is the most gratifying aspect of your job?

"I really enjoy helping others find the right Herion look for them. It is very gratifying hearing from clients that they feel so beautiful in Herion clothing and that they are extremely happy to have found a piece that makes them feel confident and feminine."
